This set of nine standards relates to the provincial expectations for how teachers will conduct themselves, and how they will treat their students and families. Teachers are educators and are therefore expected to demonstrate a passion for knowledge and understanding. They are not expected to know everything about every subject, however, they are expected to have a thorough and current understanding of the knowledge they are teaching students. This is accomplished by continual research and accessing community resources; which is simpler than it sounds. Parents and Elders bring expertise that can be useful to the facilitation of lessons. Community engagement in a classroom also demonstrates interconnectedness and respect for education.
